Abstract: ?Objective?To investigate the clinical effects of the preservation of intercostobrachial nerve in breast cancer resection(BCS) and modified radical mastectomy on the treatment of stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ breast cancer patients.Methods?70 patients with stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ breast cancer weredivided into two groups,including 35 cases of group A received breast-conservative surgery and 35 cases of group B received modified radical mastectomy.All patients were treated with axillary lymph nodesdissection (ALNB) with the attempts of the preservation of intercostobrachial nerve.According to the clinical results of common branches of ICBN,it wasdefined as ICBN retention if the branchesdistributed in the upper arm were retained.Results?The ICBN retention rate was 82.9% vs.62.9% in group A and B respectively(P<0.05).There was no siganificantdifference of the survival rate and the recurrence between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion?It could be the first choice of the breast-conservative surgery for patients with stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ breast cancer with advantages of less trauma and less ICBN injury,comparing with modified radical mastectomy.
