Abstract Abstract:ObjectiveTo explore the correlation between the morphological changes of facet joint and intervertebral foramen and spinous process distraction, and to provide effective evidence for clinical treatment of spinal diseases.MethodsThe specimens with different degrees of lumbar vertebral regression from 3 fresh corpses were used and expose the capsule and interspinous ligaments around the articular process. The spinous processes of L3L4 and L4L5 were distracted. The different height of distraction and the changes of the height and width of the intervertebral foramen were compared.ResultsCompared with the original state, both the height of intervertebral foramen and the displacement of the facet joint after distraction of 2 mm and 4 mm were improved significantly (P<0.05). There was no statistical difference in the width of intervertebral foramen between the original state and distraction of 2 mm (P>0.05), but the width of intervertebral foramen showed obviously improvement after distraction of 4 mm than that of original state (P<0.05).ConclusionThe distraction of the spinous process can improve the displacement of facet joint and increase the height of intervertebral foramen effectively, but the sufficient distance is the necessary to improve the width of intervertebral foramen.
