Abstract Objective To study the functional outcomes of elbow joints of plates combined Kirschner wire and tension-band wire, and simple Kirschner wire and tension-band wire after olecranon osteotomy for distal humeral fractures.Methods68 cases of distal humeral fractures treated by surgical approach of olecranon osteotomy in orthopedic department of our hospital from January 2014 to February 2016 were selected. In the surgical approach of osteotomy, according to the different internal fixation methods, the patients were divided into the observation group and the control group. The observation group was internally fixed by the steel plates combined Kirschener wire and tension-band wire, and the control group was treated with simple Kirschner wire and tension-band wire.Postoperative bone healing time and postoperative elbow functions were retrospectively analyzed.ResultsIn the observation group and the control group, there was no significant difference in postoperative bone healing time(P >0.05);And the postoperative elbow function score and the excellent and good rate of the observation group were better than that of the control group(P <0.05).ConclusionIn the treatment of fractures of the distal humerus by olecranon osteotomy approach, the use of additional olecranon plates and tension-band fixation is more conducive to the improvement of elbow joint function, and can promote the postoperative recovery. It is worth further clinical application.
