Abstract Objective To evaluate the clinical value of the application of tubular stapler in the fixation of prophylactic mesh during the permanent enterostomy. Method The clinical data including postoperative complications and follow-up results of 11 cases performed permanent enterostomy with prophylactic mesh from March 2011 to December 2015 were analyzed retrospectively. Results Wound infections were observed in 3 cases, but having no effect on stoma or mesh. No parastomal hernia appeared over two years of follow-up. Distant metastasis was found in 2 cases of rectal cancer after two years. ConclusionThe application of tubular stapler is simple and reliable in the fixation of prophylactic artificial mesh during permanent enterostomy.
