Abstract: ?ObjectiveTo evaluate the therapeutic effect and safety of flexible ureteroscopy with holmium laser in the treatment of upper urinary calculi.MethodsThe clinical data and follow-up results of 199 patients with upper urinary calculi who were treated with flexible ureteroscopy and holmium laser during April 2013 and December 2016 in our hospital were reviewed. Before operations, all patients were examined by KUB and CTU, and double-J catheters were placed for 8 to 14 days. Finally, it was analyzed of the one-time stone-free rate(SFR), the postoperative complication rate, and the possible influence of stone sizes on operations.ResultsThe one-time SFR was 82.9% (165/199). And the secondary SFR was 87.9% (175/199). The total complication rate was 8.0%(16/199), and all patients were cured after conservative treatments. There were 128 of patients with a single stone and no record of a previous operation were divided into 3 groups according to their stone sizes. When the length of calculus was <10 mm, 11~20 mm, and >20 mm, the SFR was 97.14%(68/70), 79.25%(42/53), and 20%(1/5), and the operation time were(31.6±6.8)min, (73.4±17.7)min, and (114±18.0)min respectively. There were significant differences in the SFR and operation time among the patients with different stone sizes(P<0.01).ConclusionIt is minimally invasive, effective, safe of flexible ureteroscopy combined with holmium laser in the treatment of upper urinary calculi with fewer complications and good compliances.
