Clinical Effects of Different Treatments to the Deltoid Ligament after Open Reduction and Internal Fixationon Supination External Rotation Ankle Fractures with Complete Rupture of the Deltoid Ligament
Abstract: Objective?To analyze the clinical efficacy ofdifferent treatments to thedeltoid ligameut on supination external rotation ankle joint fractures with complete rupture of thedeltoid ligament after open reduction and internal fixation treatment.Methods?A number of 80 patients,which were treated with open reduction and internal fixation,were studied retrospectively.They weredivided into four groups according to the treatments of thedeltoid ligament: A group(n=20) with no treatment; B group(n=20) with superficial ligament repair; C group(n=20) withdeep ligament repair; D group(n=20) with superficial anddeep ligament repair.The operationduration,fracturehealing time,medial clear space of pre- and post-operation in four groups were collected.Excellent rate of the four groups with AOFAS were compared.Results?The operationduration of four groups were significantlydifferent,with the longest of D group(153.5±10.4)min and the least of A group(98.2±8.1)min,P<0.05.The excellent rate of AOFAS in B group(85%),C group(90%) and D group (95%) were markedlyhigher than that of A group(60%),P<0.05.Conclusion?The supination external rotation ankle fracture with complete rupture of thedeltoid ligament need not only anatomical reduction and internal fixation,but alsodeltoid ligament repair,especially thedeep ligament repair.
